THIS IS WHY I TEACH MUSIC – Not because I expect you to major in music, Not because I expect you to become a famous pianist…But so you will be human, So you will recognize beauty, So you will be closer to an infinite beyond this world, So you will have something to cling to, So you will have more love, more compassion, more gentleness, more good – in short, more life.
I have been teaching piano for over 35 years and I found that it requires more than just an ability to play well. It requires an ability to see and hear the potential in each individual student and use skill, knowledge, and experience to instruct my students in a way where each one can bring out the best in themselves. I have devoted many years to this effort. I find genuine enjoyment in teaching the valuable concepts that I have learned to my students and also in constantly finding new and improved ways of communicating with them.
My teaching style is based on great traditions developed by famous European pianists, music theorists, and instructors. I have also created my own method that has been developed over the years of teaching. I evaluate each student individually for his/her status in terms of knowledge, ability, skills, and structure and plan my lessons accordingly. My approach is based on the philosophy that every child has the ability to learn the art of playing piano, but can also learn it well. Therefore, in order to accomplish this goal I initially establish a strong student/teacher rapport based on mutual respect and understanding of common goals.
Teaching has never become a routine for me and I am always thrilled about my job. I am passionate about the piano and sharing the musical wisdom with my students.
See you at the piano,
Mrs. Olga
